Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering, founded in 1958, has continually expanded itself, and today it comprises eleven departments with excellent research facilities and laboratories. The Faculty offers four-year undergraduate programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering. Students are trained with experiments and laboratory work as well as theoretical studies. The principal objective of the undergraduate engineering curriculum is to provide opportunity for personal maturity and intellectual growth, for the attainment of professional competence, and for the development of social responsibility. The Faculty has made special efforts in studying both theoretical and practical ways to face environmental pollution problems which have been brought along with the rapid development of scientific technology. The main features of the Faculty are explained as follows:
(1) the Faculty aims at the integration of fundamental and technical education,
(2) in order to afford the information required for engineers in the computer age, subjects such as computer science, computer aided design and computer applications are provided for the first-year to the third-year students, and
(3) required research works in specialized fields are provided for the fourth-year students.

The potential is high for graduates of the Faculty to find jobs in industries, since Kansai University is located close to the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe industrial area. Graduates are working in the forefront of technology as leading engineers.
