This year, 148 projects have been selected from among 939 applications submitted by national, public and private universities, and other institutions in Japan.
1. Program titles:
i) Fostering Proactive Leaders with Excellent English Skills (by Faculty of Commerce)
ii) Globalizing Education Program Utilizing ICT (by all faculties)
2. Term: FY2008-2010
i) Fostering Proactive Leaders with Excellent English Skills
This project aims to foster proactive international leaders by developing project execution ability concurrently with English language skills through industry-university-government cooperation, upper secondary school-university collaboration and international partnerships. It intends to nurture future business leaders with the following qualifications to succeed in an international environment:
a) International sensibility and English-language skills which help communication between people from different cultures;
b) Entrepreneurship which brings innovations to organizations or society; and
c) Leadership which contributes to earn people’s trust and improve initiative.
“KUBIC”, “CORES”, “BLSP” and “BestA” are four educational programs offered by the Faculty of Commerce, Kansai University as the faculty projects and lecture courses to reach the objective through industry-university-government cooperation, upper secondary school-university collaboration and international partnerships.
ii) Globalizing Education Program Utilizing ICT
This project proposes and offers a comprehensive support program for students studying abroad, including training before and after overseas study. The program consists of three activities, “study”, “communication” and “fieldwork”, which embody Kansai University’s educational philosophy of “harmonizing of theory and practice, not simply mastering purely academic theory”. To reach this objective, we systematically combine the three activities focused on Japan’s “knowledge” archives by utilizing our proven ICT-based educational method (e-Learning system CEAS).
It aims to foster students who are able to express their opinions in foreign languages with not only adoption of different cultures, but also awareness of their own cultures and due consideration of cross cultural variation.
