3. Title: “Let’s Expand Students’ Self-Supporting Peer Community: Cultivating Kansai University’s Student Character Suitable for the 21st Century”
4. Contents:
This student support program aims to help students of Kansai University cultivate matured personal capacity, or Kansai University’s student character suitable for the 21st Century. Through the promotion of such capacity, this program helps the students nourish Kansai University’s unique campus culture which encourages students’ independent mind set, and helps them acquire basic resources desired for those who support the knowledge-based society of the 21st Century. Corresponding to the increasing demand for peer support programs among the universities of late, this student support program launches a “campus-wide peer support system” in which students themselves are to provide peer supports in need among the students, thus form a “peer community” based on their independent mind set. This program reflects the objectives of the reformed common education starting in FY 2008, and new lectures to train “peer supporters” will be offered as a part of formal curriculum. Besides the formal curriculum, certification of “peer supporters” is also assisted through extra-curriculum education.
